Abstract

Opole as a city and provincial capital of the region due to the lack of social, economic and cultural development became a closed city. Wanting to prevent this situation, authorities proposed change of administrative boundaries annexing several villages on the borders of the city. The villages annexed to Opole, in the original version, were five but ultimately only four municipalities were integrated. Opole, from the 1 January 2017, begins it functioning under the new administrative boundaries, with a population of approx. 128 thousand and an area of approx. 150 km2, it is an opportunity for the city.
