Abstract

The outbreak of war in Ukraine, caused by the invasion of Russia, had a catastrophic impact on both the everyday life of the inhabitants and the conditions of the economy. According to the World Bank, the conflict has inhibited economic recovery
from the Covid-19 pandemic. The war contributed to the inhibition of the development of many industries, including the tourism industry, whose total revenues from tourism in 2020 amounted to over USD 374 million. As a result of military operations, not only everyday utility facilities are destroyed, but also the country's tourist attractions. Despite the ongoing conflict, many tour operators offer tourists not only trips to places considered safe, e.g., Lviv, but also trips to crime scenes (war tourism). The aim of the article is to assess the possibilities of tourism development in Ukraine during the crisis and just after its potential end. The goal was achieved through a literature review and analysis of published secondary data.
