Abstract

Sustainable design, universal design are currently one of the most common concepts in architectural design. Just like modernity over a hudred years ago, the problem of flats available to everyone is dominated by today’s statetements and activities of architects. Can we compare these two situations – present and past? Was modernity necessary to solve the problem of affordable housing? Is the same sustainable design necessary to solve or limit the problem of ecological degradation of the natural environment and natural resources?
