REVITALIZATION OF RACIBÓRZ'S DOWNTOWN BUILDINGS IN THE PROJECTS OF THE STUDENTS OF THE INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTURE ANS IN RACIBÓRZ

Abstract

Design issues in the downtown context are an important part of education and occur at various stages of education for students of the Institute of Architecture of the University of Applied Sciences in Raciborz of Architecture Racibórz. This type of design issue includes all the typical tasks of architectural design, but the distinguishing element is the need to take into account the context of the surroundings, which in the case of downtown areas is particularly challenging. An additional characteristic element of the projects carried out at the institute of architecture is the fact that the base for them is the downtown area of Raciborz, the city in which the headquarters of the Institute of Architecture of the University of Applied Sciences is located. The situation has the advantage that, for many students, the area is easily accessible, allowing an in-depth analysis of all the factors that can affect design solutions. The location of the subjects in the city of Racibórz also allows for the presentation of student works to the local community and city authorities. The organized exhibitions are part of the discussion on how the city should be developed, and deepen the knowledge of average people and authorities on issues related to the city's architecture and aesthetics. The presented student projects are a field for discussion on the issues of how to use urban space and the nature of the function that should be located in the city center.
