THE ART OF FRAMING
Keywords:
frame, FOTON, photographic image, trace, composition, observation, magnificationAbstract
By revealing a reality inaccessible to human perception, photography becomes
a source of unique information and creative inspiration at the same time. The main
purpose of every photograph – from the original conception of this medium – is to record
the truth about the world, i.e. to archive it. However, in order to discover the traces of
passing time, it is not enough to equip oneself with the latest generation of equipment or
to sharpen one's eyesight. When composing a photographic image through the conscious
choice of motif and the use of specific means of expression, we acquire the ability to
observe. It is this that gives birth to a new reality – a photographic image enclosed within
a frame. Deciding to press the shutter release 'puts to death a moment' that will never
return. Members of the Student Research Group of Artistic Photography FOTON travel
many roads in search of new sources of inspiration that lead to self – realisation, in order
to finally discover themselves.
